With 2012 now in full swing, we thought we’d take a look at some trends that could have an impact on game AI this year:
While browsing the interwebs today we stumbled upon this nugget of an article on the convergence of robotics and video game pathfinding and AI. This article does a brilliant job of comparing the similarities and differences between AI as it applies to robotics applications and video games. Here at xaitment we try and take that approach with our own pathfinding product: xaitMap. In the same way this article provides a clearer picture of those similarities and differences, we strive to provide a visual solution to pathfinding with an easy to use graphical user interface. The Students at the MIT Computers Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab (CSAIL) are truly inspiring innovators. Their contributions to the world of Artificial Intelligence are ongoing and many of their greatest achievements are in unifying smart AI software with the right hardware.
Here at xaitment we try to take an approach that results in smarter AI for games but part of what makes this MIT team special is their ability to create machines that respond in both form and function to the AI software that powers their creations.
Today we thought we would look at some of their most promising robots.
On the heels of I/ITSEC 2011, Bohemia Interactive Simulations has posted a video on YouTube showcasing the xaitMap - VBS2 integration. This video shows some of the great features that are available to VBS2 users in the simulation market. Have a look.
If you're developing a simulation and are interested in more details about the integration, please contact us today.
Join us in Orlando, FL on Nov 28-Dec 1 2011 for *I/ITSEC*, the largest modeling, simulation & training conference worldwide. If you are interested in seeing how xaitment's AI software integrates with Bohemia Interactive's VBS2 simulation engine, please stop by Bohemia's booth (1040) for a detailed demonstration. If you would like to meet us separately, contact us today. We look forward to seeing you in Orlando!
We will be heading down to Austin, TX for GDC Online (Oct 10-13). We won't have a booth, but we will have a comfortable suite near the convention center fully stocked with food, drinks and all the latest AI technology from xaitment, including the new xaitMap 3.0 and xaitControl 3.4. To schedule a private demo, contact us today. We look forward to seeing you!
