xaitControl 2.5 now integrated in Gamebryo® LightSpeed?
Emergent Game Technologies and xaitment have joined forces to provide the video game industry?s developers with an integration of Gamebryo® LightSpeed? and xaitControl, a design and AI tool providing a high degree of unpredictability and adding more realism to the game. Enabling rapid prototyping, rapid iteration and real-time updates, LightSpeed simplifies game development through a data driven framework that opens doors to exciting gameplay possibilities. LightSpeed gives developers the tools to quickly realize ideas and be free to iterate throughout the development process.
LightSpeed launched at this years? GDC and is available to developers around the world and supports xaitControl 2.5 for PlayStation 3 system, Xbox 360 and PC.
The features include a toolbench plugin for xaitControl as well as a full Lua integration to xaitControl and a run time integration between core run time and xaitControl Library.
Using a hierarchical, probabilistic Finite State Machine (FSM), xaitControl 2.5 gives you the means to easily define complex state machines that provide a high degree of unpredictability, and therefore a higher level of realism, to the behavior of your agents. What?s more, user-specified variables, such as attack systems, preconditions, and probabilities can be inherited or individually defined, giving you even more flexibility with, and control of, the gameplay. Besides AI, xaitControl 2.5 helps with scripting and gamelogic. Another big advantage of xaitControl 2.5 is the simplification of workflow in a development team: the game designer is now able to adjust the AI in a game without the help of a coder. This greatly reduces the workload, cutting down bugs and saves time and money to be used on testing.
