Saarbrücken/Quierschied, August 18, 2009 – xaitment GmbH, one of the leading developers and service providers of artificial intelligence (AI) for the games and simulation industries, today announced a deal with Gameforge, the world largest independent provider of browser- and client-based Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) games. Within the scope of the agreement, Gameforge will license the BrainPack bundle – consisting of the AI 2.5 gametools xaitMap, xaitMove and xaitControl – from the German AI developers for the development of future products.
The new 2.5 game tool series provides developers with easier implementation and customization of artificial intelligence. With the new tools, the behavior of NPCs can now be realized with the help of graphical tools and with a minimum effort of programming. This gives game designers the ability to quickly change things as they are designing the game. It also enables a clear separation from the creative process of designing the game and coding it, which eases the game production workflow, shortens the development period, reduces costs and removes many of the risks of developing new software internally.
'I'm very excited about our new partnership with Gameforge,' says Dr. Andreas Gerber, Group CEO of the xaitment GmbH. 'Similar to graphic- and physics engines, we are seeing more and more companies adopting AI game tools for the implementation of pathfinding, movement and game logic. The deal with a world-class developer such as Gameforge confirms our strategy of providing a modular AI solution that can solve a multitude of game development challenges.'
Klaas Kersting, CEO of the Gameforge AG, adds: 'Artificial Intelligence is one of the most important aspects of any online game. We decided to work with xaitment because of their forward-looking development tools, which combine the most modern and innovative game AI techniques. The vast feature set within their tools provides more than familiar pathfinding routines and can save every developer a huge amount of development time, risks and costs.'
